This week I covered the FT Lawyers awards at the Crown Justce Rooms on the Strand -  What a great venue ! The Great Hall is huge and is perfect for any type of event.  I have been covering this event for three years now and it is really  good to see that each year the event grows and becomes better and better.  I have done quite a few FT events including their Envrionmental Awards last year - I am please to see a financial institution taking an active part in eco awareness and was surprised that the FT also organised a conference on sustainable banking which was also gered to what business and financial instituations can do to help the environmental situation we all find ourselves in today!

 


 

I was very happy to cover ITOPF's 40th anniversary dinner last week where the Guest of Honour, Shipping Minister Mr Jim Fitzpatrick MP & IMO Secretary-General, Mr Efthimiou Mitropoulos gave enlighttening and interesting speeches about the acheivements of The International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF) which is a not-for-profit organisation, involved in all aspects of preparing for and responding to ship-source spills of oil, chemicals and other substances in the marine environment.

ITOPF was established in 1968, in the wake of the TORREY CANYON incident,ITOPF now devotes considerable effort to a wide range of technical services, of which the most important is responding to spills of oil and chemicals.
